Cleared absences are those that have been made up in Saturday School.
Clearing absences in Saturday School is based on the principle that academic time lost due to absences can be recovered on Saturdays.
Positive Affect of Cleared Absences
Clearing/recovering absences in Saturday School affects individual student attendance records in the following ways.
- Absences cleared in Saturday School stop counting as absences on the student’s attendance record.
- Absences cleared on Saturdays reduce individual student absence totals.
- Absences cleared in Saturday School count as days present in school, due to the recovery of academic time.
- Cleared absences help repair excessive absenteeism, instead contributing negatively to it.
One four-hour session in Saturday School clears/recovers/makes up for one full-day absence, or six period absences. Saturday School begins promptly at 8:00 A.M. and dismisses at 12:00 P.M.
Saturday School recovers academic time lost due to absences. Thus, students must arrive with school work, expecting to work on academics while in Saturday School.
