First Day of School Minimum Day

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 new school year!  I hope this message finds you well and you had an enjoyable and safe summer.  I am looking forward to opening our school doors to all of our students. By now you should have received a letter from the District Office outlining the safety protocols. We are returning to in school instruction. One of the most critical pieces of information to know is masks will still be required for both staff and students while inside the classroom regardless of vaccination status.  We will continue to encourage safety protocols to ensure both students and staff are safe such as sanitizing and the washing of hands.  We are also encouraging student vaccination.

The first day of school will be Wednesday, July 21st and it will be a minimum day. It will be a 1-7 schedule with 1st period starting at 7:30 AM.  Please have your child/children report by at least 7:00 AM to have enough time to find their first period classroom. Period 6 will end at 11:31 AM and period 7 will end at 12:41 PM.  The bell schedule and the semester 1 calendar will be sent to all families.

If you have not completed online registration or haven’t submitted residency verification if applicable, please do so before school starts.

During the school year, a weekly newsletter is sent that contains a lot of important information about the school.  I highly encourage you to read the weekly newsletter.  It is titled The Mariner Times.  There is also and APP you can download.

The Mar Vista High School faculty and staff continue to be committed to working with all of you to ensure we remain true to our mission by focusing on student academic achievement and well-being. By continuing to work together we can succeed in fully realizing our school mission of preparing students for post-secondary education and career options by fostering a culture of achievement, developing critical thinking skills across all subjects, instilling a sense of commitment and creating a community where everyone belongs.

Looking forward to making this school year a positive experience!

Yours in education,
Bettina E. Batista
